Acne Studios Musubi Tote: First Thoughts and Key Features

Acne Studios Musubi Tote - Camel Brown - Exterior - Front

I haven’t purchased a luxury or designer handbag in quite some time, but after a really big year, I decided to treat myself to something I’d been considering for over a year – the Acne Studios Musubi Tote in camel brown.

As someone who works across multiple roles and travels regularly for work, I’m always conscious of how a bag fits into my day-to-day life. This wasn’t an impulse purchase; it was a considered decision based on practicality, design, and how I realistically use my bags.

Why I chose the Acne Studios Musubi Tote for work and travel?

I’ve long been a fan of Acne Studios, and the Musubi line has been on my wishlist for a while. What ultimately pushed me toward the tote was seeing it styled in a real work context – not just in campaign imagery, but worn by someone who actually used it day-to-day.

I was looking for a bag that felt structured but not rigid, elevated but still functional, and suitable for work, travel, and everyday wear.

Acne Studios Musubi Tote: Features at a Glance

The Acne Studios Musubi Tote is crafted from smooth matte leather – a mix of calf and lamb – in a warm camel brown tone.

Notable features include:

  • Made in Italy
  • Adjustable shoulder strap
  • Signature side knot details
  • Central zip compartment with attached Acne Studios lanyard
  • Snap button closure with divided interior sections

Both the shell and lining are made from leather sourced from a Leather Working Group–certified tannery, holding a silver rating – something I always appreciate when investing in leather goods.

Size & Practicality

Does the Acne Studios Musubi Tote Fit a Laptop?

The Musubi Tote technically does fit a MacBook Pro 16 (16-inch), although it is a very-snug fit. If you regularly carry a larger laptop, this is something to consider as you might not find it practical – and can be awkward. I often alternate between my laptop and an 11-inch iPad Air, which fits comfortably. So this was a compromise I consciously made by choosing the Musubi Tote size.

I also tried the Musubi Midi Shoulder Bag, which is the larger version, but ultimately found it too heavy and oversized for my frame. I don’t enjoy carrying heavy bags, so the tote felt like a better balance between capacity and comfort.

The interior features a single central zip compartment, with open sections on either side. While this means items aren’t fully separated, I tend to use pouches to organise my bag, so this layout works well for me.

First Impressions

My initial impressions are very positive. The construction feels beautiful, the leather is soft yet structured, and the bag sits comfortably on the body without feeling bulky.

Like most leather bags, it will soften and show wear over time – something I’m personally comfortable with. I buy my bags to use them, not to keep them pristine.
