Nixon THE MISSION Android Wear Coming Soon

This fall (September-December 2016) Nixon is set to launch ‘the world’s first action smartwatch’.

Now usually when it comes to smartwatches, I’m right onto it, but this time to my surprise this watch was actually brought to my attention by my brother of whom is extremely active. He loves snowboarding, surfing, and basically all action sports, whereas I am the more geeky sibling that would rather play with devices than risk injuring myself.

As a preexisting smartwatch owner, that isn’t very sporty, I generally prefer nicer watches for going out. However, that being said, I’m definitely trying to be more ‘outdoorsy’. I tend to travel a lot, and I absolutely love the snow. I even enjoy snowboarding…but I absolutely suck at it.

Even though I’m not as sporty as my brothers, I’m still very excited for the launch of this watch.

So far the market is so heavily saturated by fitness and activity trackers, and in my opinion the majority of them aren’t appealing or have very limited functionality outside of tracking your heart rate and steps for example.

Nixon on the other hand are giving it a red hot go with their new watch: The Mission. Already I feel like if I owned one, I’d be some sort of super spy. Shocking snowboarder by day, spy by night!

So what’s so special about this watch? Why should you even care?

WELL, firstly, this watch adds just another choice out of the abundance of smatch watch devices already available on the market. This means you can really choose a smartwatch to tailor to your needs, personality and lifestyle.

Secondly, it’s built to last. Water resistant capabilities, custom-molded poly-carbonate & stainless steel case.

Thirdly, it’s powered by the latest Android Wear technology and works with Surfline & Snocountry, as well as other preloaded Nixon exclusive apps to make sure you are up to date with real-time weather and condition forecasts!

Lastly, and probably one of my favourite points is that it is fully customisable! This means from the case finish, custom bezel color, band color, and custom case-back engraving, you can truly create your own!

Top-line features to look out for:

  • Latest Android Wear OS
  • 10 ATM water resistance (highest rating for any existing smart-watch)
  • Built-in standalone GPS
  • Shock resistant (48mm poly-carbonate case)
  • Heavy duty crystal (Corning Gorilla Glass)
  • Roll cage bezel (316L surgical grade stainless steel)
  • Over 20 band options
  • Over 15 bezel options
  • Patented technology integrated

I don’t know about you, but I am very excited for this smartwatch. I can’t wait to see what the future brings.

Would you buy this smartwatch? What’s a stand out feature in your mind? I’d love to hear your thoughts!

Thanks for reading. ‘Til next time…

Take care and stay fabulous!

  1. One of the problems with these smart watches is the battery life. I’m curious how long the battery of The Mission will last. I currently have a Garmin Fenix 3, and the battery on it rocks! If the Mission can get the same battery life out of the Mission, then i’ll definitely look into purchasing one. Also, curious if the Mission have ant+?

    1. Hey Jesus,

Thanks so much for your message! I honestly have no idea. I haven’t had the opportunity to play with it hands on. I don’t mind so much about battery life, as long as it can see me through the majority of the day! I’d be curious to see if they have ant+ too!
