Ag TWS04K True Wireless Earphones review

Budget friendly wireless earphones that offer 180 hours of battery life? Unheard of – until now.

Introducing Ag TWS04K True Wireless Earphones, a new audio brand creation from the Japanese high-end audio brand Final.

Brand new to Australia, Ag has come out with two hot products which are not only music to the ears but a very alluring value proposition. The first being these TWS04K wireless earphones, and the second being a pair of noise cancelling headphones (review to come).

With the sound tuned by Final with the promise of hi-fi sound quality paired with the award-winning ear tips by Final, you can bet we have a good feeling about these ones.

As far as the eyes can see, Ag is delivering shocking good value, but does it match in quality?

Let’s find out.

Pricing

Ag TWS04K True Wireless Earphones is priced at AUD$199.99 and is now available for purchase.

What’s in the box?

  • Black Ag TWS04K Earphones
  • Faux leather charging case
  • final exclusive TYPE E Completely Wireless Specific ear tips in 5 sizes (SS, S, M, L, LL)
  • USB-C Charging Cable
  • Information booklet

The ag TWS04K wireless earphones are available in two colours. Mine are black but you can also get them in white. Although I do think the white colour is quite chic, I would imagine they would get dirty easily or potentially discolour over time, especially if you use them while working out and in the elements.

The product box you receive isn’t translated. Most of it is in Japanese with a couple of English words and numbers. This isn’t really an issue for me as I already know what the product is, and, when you open the box, you are greeted with a product manual which is completely in English. There is a however smaller version of the manual (information booklet) which I found packed neatly with the cable and ear tips, this version however is in Japanese.

The packaging overall is neat, and the faux leather charging case feels nice in the hands. The charging case is texturized and non-slip.
Opening the charging case, it does feel a little cheap – particularly as the inner casing is made of lightweight plastic.

However, being lightweight isn’t necessarily a bad thing as the case itself is quite large to accommodate the massive 2600mAh battery – so it makes sense to not want it to be too heavy or bulky.

Overall, the packaging is spot on, especially considering the price point.

Ag TWS04K True Wireless Earphones Features

  • IPX Water resistance – meaning the earphones have a high waterproof rating and can be submersed in water at a depth of one metre for up to 30 minutes
  • Sound tuned by Final
  • Qualcomm aptX, AAC & SBC compatible
  • Award winning TYPE E ear tips from parent brand Final
  • High-fidelity sound quality
  • Ultra-long-life battery

Charging Time & Music Playback

The ag TWS04K earphones take 2 hours to charge with the charging case taking 4 hours.

At full-charge you can enjoy up to 180 hours of music playback with the case.
This should not be underestimated. 180 hours is a phenomenal amount of use time. For example, this would give you 6 hours of music playback per day over 30 days on one-full case charge. To top up the charge on your earphones (and/or store them when not in use), simply pop them in your wireless case.

Comparing charging and use time with well-known mainstream wireless earphones:

  • Apple AirPods take approximately 2 hours to charge and give you more than 24 hours of use. RRP: AUD$249.00
  • Samsung Galaxy Buds+ take a bit over 1 hour to fully charge and give you up to 22 hours of use (buds alone provide 11 hours of use).  RRP: AUD$299.00
  • Apple AirPods Pro take approximately 2 hours to charge and give more than 24 hours of use. RRP: AUD$399.00

Just comparing the use time alone, the ag TWS04K blows the more expensive competitors out of the water providing almost x7.5 more use on a single charge in comparison.

Day-to-day performance

These earphones are practical, convenient, and durable. I love that they have a high-water resistance rating and the incredible battery power behind them makes it a lot easier for me and my busy routine. In a normal day, I spend a few hours listening to music or podcasts while I work or go for a walk.

Sound performance wise, these are great. They aren’t the best money can buy but for the price point it absolutely hits the sweet spot. I’d argue to say that the quality seen here is a lot better than what you may find with mainstream options, however, where it may fall to wireless earphone competitors is its lack of ambient sound and lack of noise cancellation.

Having the varied ear tip sizes however does help to ensure that the earphones are a snug fit, and this seal alone does provide an ample barrier to noise and exterior sounds.

That said, these babies are AUD$199.99, and can last you one month of listening on a single charge so it’s got a lot going for it.

Final Thoughts

The new and first-ever Ag branded earphones from Final are an exceptional value proposition, hitting all the right spots in terms of price, sound quality, and features.

Although it may be missing some features such as ambiance and noise cancelling, at AUD$199.99, this is easily overlooked when sound quality and battery capacity is considered.

Even as a bonus, given how beefy the charging capacity is of the ag TWS04K True Wireless Earphones 2600mAh charging case is, you could even use it to charge your phone too.

If you’re looking for durable, long-lasting, and affordable wireless earphones the ag TWS04K True Wireless Earphones give the competitors a run for their money and are worth the look.
